The photographs are mainly high-quality 35 mm transparencies, on Fujichrome Velvia film. An increasing number are also on 6 x 7 cm. format on Fujichrome Velvia.

Tropical rainforests

Images from all the main rainforest areas of the world, including Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Zaïre, Indonesia, Borneo, Papua New Guinea, Irian Jaya, Queensland (Australia) & Hawaii.

Coverage includes: buttressed trees, lianas, strangler figs, palm trees in flower, igapó and varzea swamp forests, unique flooded forests in Borneo, montane forests, cloud forests, stilt-rooted palms, rainforest frogs, insects, the rainforest canopy, rainforest destruction, logging, tribal peoples in Borneo and New Guinea, banyan trees in India.

Mangroves are a particular speciality, and coverage includes many of their unique features, such as stilt roots, pneumatophores, vivipary etc.

Temperate forests

Images from temperate rainforests, including Australia, New Zealand, Olympic National Park (USA) and British Columbia (Canada). Unique images of the temperate rainforest remnants in Scotland. Oak and beech woods in Scotland. Landscapes, wildlife of the US Pacific Northwest - mountains, glaciers, marmots etc.

Scotland's Caledonian Forest is particularly well-covered, with many images of the native pinewoods, the trees in detail, the forest floor vegetation and general landscapes of the forest in all seasons.

Deserts

Good coverage of the deserts in Australia, Namibia, Mexico and the southwest of the USA.

Wildlife

African wildlife - lions, elephants, cheetahs, black rhinos, etc., from Kenya, Namibia and Botswana. The wildlife of the Galapagos Islands Mountain gorillas in the montane forests of Zaïre Tropical rainforest wildlife - frogs, butterflies, monkeys, iguanas, birds, insects etc.

MEXICO

FORESTS
Rare and endangered oaks and pines from throughout Central Mexico, mangroves from both coasts, lowland tropical rainforest from the Gulf coast, flowering trees, desert cacti etc. Extensive coverage of the monarch butterflies in their overwintering site in an oyamel fir forest.


COSTA RICA

FORESTS
Images of the main forest types in this Central American country - tropical rainforests in Corcovado National Park, cloud forests from Monteverde, and the rare and endangered tropical dry forests from the Guanacaste region in the north west. Coverage also includes the innovative ecological restoration work being carried out for the tropical dry forest in Guanacaste, and for the cloud forest at the Genesis II Cloud Forest Reserve.


AUSTRALIA

FORESTS
A wide range of trees and forests from throughout Australia - temperate rainforests in Tasmania, tropical rainforests in Queensland, giant karri trees from Western Australia, boab trees from the Kimberley region, many eucalypts from all over the continent.

DESERTS
Uluru (Ayers Rock), canyons, gorges, giant granite boulders and other desert features from the Red Centre of Australia.

COASTS
Coastal scenes from around the continent - rock formations, sunsets, beaches etc.


NAMIBIA

DESERTS
Photographs of the Namib Desert in Namib-Naukluft Park, including images of camelthorn trees during an intense sand-storm.

WILDLIFE
A wide range of wildlife photographs from Etosha National Park, and Mahango Game Reserve, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, oryx (or gemsbok), kudu, springbok and other animals.

TREES

GLACIERS
Spectacular photographs from the rarely-visited Darwin Range in Tierra del Fuego, and also from Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia and the Moreno Glacier in Argentina.

Dramatic images of the mountain peaks in Torres del Paine, as well as penguins, guanacos and a Patagonian fox.
